Borage Oil is a nutritional oil consisting of 60% Polyunsaturated Fats and approximately twice the average content of Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA) as Evening Primrose Oil. GLA is an essential fatty acid that the body is able to produce from dietary linoleic acid; however, it can be more efficiently utilized for body functions when supplied directly by dietary sources. Research has determined that Borage Oil does not contain harmful levels of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids (PAs). NOW Borage Oil is expeller-pressed and hexane-free.

Back in the early 60’s the health food industry was in its infancy. “Health foods” were obscure and peculiar, and health food enthusiasts were broadly categorized as hippies and granola-heads.

So he started his own natural products manufacturing company to supply his stores, which afforded him complete control over product cost and quality. NOW® Foods was born.
